Our Mission

Founded in 2015, The Bhutan Center Foundation promotes holistic development philosophies, which reflect the principles of Gross National Happiness (GNH). The concept of Gross National Happiness was first defined as a development principal in the country of Bhutan, and further articulated by the United Nations. These principles incorporate concerns with the integration of equitable and sustainable socio-economic development, environmental conservation, cultural protection and promotion, and good governance.

The Bhutan Center supports conceptual and practical engagement with the philosophy of Gross National Happiness. This focus is found in many private and public endeavors in the USA and beyond, and the Center promotes the exchange and mutual enrichment of these shared philosophies.

The Bhutan Center also promotes the protection of Bhutanese culture and assist both the people of Bhutan by providing technical assistance and volunteers for select projects and initiatives.
